The Traverse City area has several arts and crafts fairs scheduled throughout the year, offering many unique handcrafted items.

Since 1978, the Spirit of the Woods Music Association has put together an annual music festival, the Spirit of the Woods Folk Festival. The event is held at Dickson Township Park- 14279 N. Coates Hwy, Brethren, on the third Saturday in June from 12-8pm The festival usually features a day full of music on two stages, arts and crafts vendors, children’s activities, great food, and a closing dance. Spirit of the Woods also presents concerts, dances, open mics, and special events during the fall and winter months.

The Annual Show of the Western Michigan Old Engine Club is held the first weekend of August at Scottville’s Riverside Park.
The spring/fall runs of steelhead and salmon, the resident brown trout and “brookies” make the PM River extremely popular for fishing.
The park remains open year-round for hiking, snowshoeing, activities to give those who love winter something fun to look forward to!
Along the Lake Michigan shoreline between Ludington and Manistee, you’ll find natural splendor- the Nordhouse Dunes Wilderness area.
Much of West Michigan is bicycle-friendly, and you’ll find many nice paths on which to ride. It’s great exercise with great scenery to enjoy.
