Silver Lake Sand Dunes Apple & BBQ Festival

September 6th-7th, 2024

The Silver Lake Sand Dunes Apple & BBQ Festival takes place each year at the Golden Township Park- 8711 W. Silver Lake Rd. in Mears. The two-day festival includes a wide variety of activities that are fun for all ages. 

Proceeds from the festival benefit organizations and programs that serve the Silver Lake Sand Dunes area. Examples include the Silver Lake Fireworks, beautification projects in Silver Lake, and helping other projects fund the growth of Golden Township park.

Here's what happened last year:

Friday

  • 2-6pm – Dewall’s Forge LLC Live Demonstrations
  • 2-7pm – Kids Activities: Gelly Ball, Inflatable Castle, Rock Climb Slide, Face Painting
  • 2-9pm – Kids Activities: Pony Rides
  • 2-9pm – DJ on Stage #2
  • 2-9pm – Food Trucks on Festival Grounds
  • 4pm – Storytelling by Storybook Village
  • 4-9pm – Beer Tent Open
  • 6-9pm – Live music  on the Festival Stage

Saturday

  • 9am – Apple a Day 5k Run Run at Mac Woods Dune Rides- 629 N. 18th Ave., Mears; Registration from 8-9am with 9am start
  • 10am – National Anthem in front of the Pavilion in Golden Township Park- 8711 W Silver Lake Rd, Mears
  • 10am-1pm – DJ on Stage #2
  • 10am-2pm – Classic Vehicle & ORV Show at the Dunetown Mall- 8239 W. Hazel Rd., Mears; Registration begins at 8am
  • 10am-5pm – Arts & Craft Show on West Silver Lake Rd. 
  • 10am-5pm – Live wood carvings by Alonzo Montoya
  • 10am-5pm – Kids Activities: Inflatable Castle, Rock Climb Slide, Face Painting
  • 10am-6pm – Kids Activities: Gelly Ball
  • 10am-9pm – Food Trucks at Festival Grounds
  • 11am – Storytelling by Storybook Village
  • 11-11:30am – Apple Pie Contest Check-In at the Pavilion
  • 11am-6pm – Muskegon Axe Throwing
  • 12-2pm – Live music at Silver Lake Chicken Shack-8343 W Hazel Rd., Mears
  • 12-5pm – Kids Activities: Balloon Animals
  • 12-8pm – Dewall’s Forge LLC Live Demonstrations
  • 12-9pm – Beer Tent Open
  • 12-9pm – Kids Activities: Pony Rides
  • 12:30pm – Apple Pie Contest Awards
  • 1-3pm – Live music on the Festival Stage
  • 2pm – Classic Vehicle & ORV Awards
  • 3:30-5:30pm – Live music on the Festival Stage
  • 4pm – Storytelling by Storybook Village
  • 6:30-9pm – Live music on the Festival Stage

Shuttle Pick-up available from the Festival Grounds to the Round About on Friday from 4-9pm and Saturday from 10am-9pm
